This skillful blend of gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter follows Sidney Bruhl (C.T. Troilo of Yardley), a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, who is out of ideas and short of funds. When he receives a manuscript written by a former student–a thriller which Sidney is convinced will be a sure-fire Broadway hit–Sidney discovers he would go to almost any lengths to improve his fortunes…but murder? With the aid of his self-effacing wife, Myra (Jessie Krause of Princeton, NJ), Sidney devises a plan to collaborate with young playwright Clifford Anderson (Joseph Ryan of Morrisville), who quickly accepts.
As the plot twists and turns with devilish cleverness; tension, anxiety and uncertainty build, drawing the attention of world famous psychic Helga ten Dorp (Michele Loor-Nicolay of Erdenheim), in temporary residence nearby. The peculiar but perceptive woman is drawn to the Bruhl residence with visions of pain and death, yet confoundedly unclear as for whom. Rounding out the cast is Mike Jenks of Newtown–who also built the set–as Porter Milgrim, Sidney’s friend of questionable repute.
One of the great popular successes of recent Broadway history and the longest-running Comedy/Thriller in Broadway history, DEATHTRAP is produced by Lisa Reiser and stage managed by Bob Reiser, both of Langhorne. Costume Designer is Malloree Neuman of Newtown. Jim Banar of Newtown designed the set. DEATHTRAP provides twists and turns and sudden shocks in such abundance that you’ll be spellbound until the very last moment.
