Newtown Arts Company Into the Woods 2012

Book by James Lapine | Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim | Based on Classic Fairy Tales

Join Jack in the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel and a host of fairy tale favorites as they search for “happily ever after” in James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s fractured musical. Cursed by a witch with childlessness, the Baker and his wife embark on a quest for objects to break the spell: “A cow as white as milk; a cape as red as blood; a hair as yellow as corn; a slipper as pure as gold.” All get their wishes but soon discover moving lessons in responsibility that bring their happy endings crashing down around them.

Directed by Mary Liz Ivins

Music Direction by Susan den Outer

Produced by Nancy Pickering
